URX-MT Reivew: Boot Camp Metabolic Interval & Cards

Last Sunday: Went to stamping. Made these 3 cards. The floral one is embossed so its dimensional- very cool. I dont have embossing tools at home, so that was fun to do.


Today's Tip: Healthy Vegi - Carrots
One cup of chopped raw carrots contains just 52 calories and a mere 12 g of carbohydrates. Only half of the carbs are from natural sugar (the rest are from heart-healthy fiber and complex carbohydrates). Today's Review: URX-MT: Boot Camp Metabolic Interval
Amy Bento, 2011 ***** (4.5 of 5 stars)



Amy leads this 52 minute cardio + strength rebounding workout in a brick walled gym w/ 4 b/g exercisers. You will need 1-3 # sandweights and your Urban Rebounder.

This workout is formatted into sections of 2 minutes of work followed by 20-30 seconds of recovery. Amy does a great job of utilizing the rebounder & sand weights to really up the intensity of this workout. Tons of unique moves and tried & true exercises done in a new way on the UR. Love the intensity boost that the level changes of going on & off or over the UR provide. This is really a nonstop sweat fest! A great balance of strength & cardio work.

Exercises include: plyo pushups to Mt. climbers, plank moguls, plyo jacks, clock hop arounds (1 leg off UR 1 on), side plnank w/ a balance knee pull, soccer drill, bucket squat w/ big arms, tri dips around UR, sand bag slam moguls, offset deadlift w/ UB movements, crawling pushups, eleveator pushups, Mt climbers- jump on to UR and hop off, jogging, hopping on & off the UR, roll back on the UR and scoot around (core), halo & chop, and balance knee pulls


I rate this an advanced cardio & functional strength rebounding workout! Amy includes a huge variety of exercises so you will never get bored in this one. You will need space around your UR but like I said the on & off really amps up the intensity! A lot of good balance & core work. This is a great addition to the set. I was a sweaty MESS by the end! Received this dvd to review.

URX-MT Review: URX-MT High Intensity Metabolic Circuit With Resistance Bands


Random Updates: I have been doing good with my workouts and my diet lately! I am actually down 2 lbs from my norm and that NEVER happens so I am very excited about that! I am just about done reviewing the URX-MT workouts- and am LOVING them. This is the best set I have come across in a long time and thats saying a lot as I really enjoyed the Firm Express and Barry's Bootcamp Fat Blaster to name a few. I dont think I updated that I was NOT chosen for the Mamavation & George Foreman Ambassador thing I posted about some time back. Boohoo :( Oh well- I still love my Foreman grill LOL!

Today's Review: URX-MT High Intensity Metabolic Circuit With Resistance Bands
Gregg Cook, 2011 ***** (5 of 5 stars)


Greg leads this 50 min w/o in a in a brick walled gym w/ 3 b/g exercisers. This workout is cardio and strength reboundingYou will need 1-3 # sand weights,  your Urban Rebounder, and UR resistance bands for this workout.


The workout includes band & sand weight strength work and the sand weights are also used to amp up the intensity of the cardio. The workout is broken down into 3 circuits each containing 2 rounds of the each group of exercises and include recovery time. Each exercise lasts about 45 seconds followed by 15 seconds of active recovery (jacks, etc). There is no jumping on and off the UR in this w/o but you do use the perimeter of the rebounder for various exercises. The workout concludes with balance & core work.


Exercises include: overhead band squats, weighted rocket jumps, fast rotations, long arm extensions (core), band back fly, 1 leg band squats, band pushups, fast single leg hop w/ a front raise, weighted balancing swan dive, jump rope, burpees, circle hops, slow balance runner, weighted side V sits, reverse curls, & a tough knee balance core move.


I rate this an advanced workout- more cardio than strength but does provide some strength work. Greg provides excellent form pointers and his cuing is very good. He does a great job of utilizing the bands & sand weights to really amp up the intensity of this workout. I like him as a lead. Great addition to the set. Hope they put out more UR w/o's utilizing the bands! I received this dvd to review. 


Last Weekend: Scored these items at the Goodwill: A cool scrapbooking album that matches my decor. A black frame for the 8X10 photo of me for DH's office (thank you RP for the suggestion!!!) and a cool Tupperwear that will be perfect for party trays! Im thinking of using it for my upcoming Sauza House Party!
Today's Tip: Eat Healthy Fish
Fish—especially fatty fish like salmon, and white fish like cod and bass—is high in omega-3 fatty acids, which have several powerful benefits. They appear to reduce triglyceride levels in the blood (high levels cause plaque buildup in the arteries), stabilize the heartbeat (reducing irregular rhythms), make platelets less sticky (reducing clotting) and may bring down blood pressure as well. Some studies have suggested that eating fish once a week cuts your risk of a heart attack in half. The best fish are those with the least mercury and PCBs. Review: Cheryl Burkes' Disco Abs
Cheryl Burke, 2010 ***** (5 of 5 stars)

Cheryl Burkes' Disco Abs is a 3 dvd set (with 5 workouts) in one dvd case. For a total of 90 exercise minutes. Cheryl works out in a nice open set with a disco ball on a TV screen & a few platforms that 2 of the 4 backgrounders exercise on. Each dvd is chaptered by song and/or by workout (2 of the discs have 2 w/o's each). There is also a music volume option- louder or softer. You can still hear Cheryl's cuing in the "music louder" option but it is not as prominent as the music.

The music in these workouts is fantastic and really makes you want to move! There is also a countdown timer in the corner of the screen. Each song has its own routine and at the end of the workout you string the routines together for a longer disco routine. Cheryl does a great job of adding in core work to standing cardio moves and really gets in the disco feel to the cardio moves by adding in fun disco arms and disco hips. The workouts are: Thats the Way You Like It, I Will Survive Cardio, Boogie Oogie Buns & Thighs, The Beginner Hustle, and Disco Abs.

Exercises include: egg beater arms, kick ball change, hussle, grapevine & disco point, hip shifts, shimmy, hip shakes, hip swings, triple step up w/ egg beater arms & hip shift back, knee hop-disco point, skater w/ disco arms, brush your hair, wiper arms, standing crunches w/ chicken arms, spine rolls, toe tap- point, chasse, hip lifts, and other fun disco inspired standing core work.


Buns & Thigh Exercises include: squats, lunges, dips, & pliets w/ disco arms (egg beater, shimmy, & point), lunge- kick w/ a twist & point, hip shakes and figure 8's, and includes plenty of tempo changes and fast paced moves to get the heart pumping.

I rate this a lower intermediate workout in terms of choreo and cardio intensity. These workouts are all SO much fun! I absolutely loved doing all of these and def felt it in my core-from every angle. This core work is so much more fun & more effective IMO than doing a million crunches and you burn more calories! So many time options make these workouts perfect to add on to other workouts, string together, or as stand alone workouts. I liked Cheyl- good energy but not overly excitable, and good cuing. I received this dvd to review.

Acacia: Shiva Rea AM Energy Review (& Spring Garden Cupcakes!)

This is a fully customizable 98 minute dvd that is broken down into six separate workouts ranging from 5-23 minutes each. Shiva performs this yoga practice alone in an open room that is draped in gold curtains- very cool! A.M. Energy is an Acacia Fitness release. You wont need any equipment for this workout. This dvd is done in voice over.


This is a very mind-body yoga workout that incorporates some breath work into your practice. There are a lot of rhythmic movements to generate energy & wake you up. The segments are: Meditation Core Awakening (5 min), Shavasana (6 min), Body Mandala 108 (23 min), Shakti Flow (20 min), Vira Flow (23 min), and includes a bonus Heart Salutation from Shiva’s Radiant Heart DVD (20 min). 


Exercises Include: free form dance, pliet pulses w/ big arm movements, single leg lunge, vinyasa, stretching, up and down dog, warrior, 3 legged dog, butterfly crunches, bride lifts, lunge pumps, reverse pushups, hip circles, breath work, standing spinal curve, chair pose, yoga pushups, side plank variations, corpse pose, chataranga, etc. 


I rate this a high intermediate yoga routine. This is a very versatile yoga dvd that is great to use as an add on to other workouts or you can combine segments for a longer yoga routine. Shiva is a great lead- obviously very knowledgeable and provides great cuing & form pointers. She uses the sanskrit term for most postures. I received this dvd to review. 



Last Weekend: Did these Spring Garden Cupcakes for stamping. Used my cool die cut to make the cupcake wrappers-mini & regular sized..They are chocolate cupcakes, chocolate hazelnut mousse filling, chocolate buttercream, and royal icing flowers...Oh I also used this die cut for the MAC cupcakes I posted the other day. LOVE it! Today's Tip:  Stretching
Post-workout stretching is critical to ensure healthy joints and muscles. Writer Carol Mithers attempted to do all the basics thatrequire taking better care of yourself: consistently eat right, get enough sleep, exercise, floss, etc. Although challenging, she found some major payoffs by week three. "My exercise routine was getting easier (and if the music was particularly raucous, even enjoyable). Just 10 minutes of stretching afterward was loosening me up dramatically; in the car one afternoon, I looked over my shoulder to change lanes, and my neck didn't hurt. What I'd thought was arthritis and something I had to accept as part of getting older had simply been unstretched muscles." Read more on Exercise TV.

URX-MT Review: URX-MT Metabolic Strength Cardio Interval

MAC Cake: Did this cake for DH's coworkers bday. She ordered it for her & her MIL who share a bday. So the "50's" are for MIL and the 35 is for her. Its a girly theme- hence the MAC makeup, high heels, stars, & zebras. Today's Tip: Watch Out For the Weekend....
We can stick to a routine during the week, but on weekends, it's easy let loose. Make a plan for your weekend eating, starting with Friday night. What are you going to eat for meals? What are you going to snack on? How will you make healthy choices at a restaurant or dinner party? If you maintain healthy habits over the weekend, you won't spend the beginning of your week making up for bad choices. Weekends are the WORST for me!  Read more on Exercise TV.

Today's Review: URX-MT Metabolic Strength Cardio Interval
Patrick Goudeau, 2011 **** (4 of 5 stars)


Patrick leads this 45 minute rebounding workout in a brick walled gym w/ 3 b/g exercisers. This workout is mostly cardio but includes a nice core section at the endYou will need 1-3 # sand weights- and your Urban Rebounder. 


Patrick doesnt use the sand weights a whole lot in this one but you could easily use them to amp up the intensity. You will be on and off your UR and have one foot off & one at times- I like the intensity push these types of exercises offer. Some of the moves will work your muscles but I found this to be mostly cardio.


Exercises Include: 180 jumps, hop on-off-and-over the UR, fast jog, knee pulls w/ 1 foot on the UR & one off, fast feet, step touch over the UR, single leg hop, tuck jumps, pulse & jump, star jumps, and core work includes: plank heel taps, plank side leg push through, plank knee pulls, plank jacks, hand walk arounds, feet on the UR planks, bicycles, V twists, plank to hi plank, and cat walks.


I would rate this a solid to high intermediate cardio workout. Patrick is a great lead and his cuing is right on. The core section is very unique and I def felt my core the next day. This is a great addition to the URX-MT set. Received this dvd to review.
