Billy Blanks Tae Bo PT 24/7 Review: Cardio

Today's Review: Billy Blanks PT 24/7: Cardio
Billy Blanks, 2011 **** (3.5 of 5 stars)

Billy leads this 32 min w/o in a nice open gym with 7 backgrounders (including Shelly). You will need your PT gloves & bands for this workout (though you could easily do without). Mostly cardio work but I really felt it in my shoulders & upper back the next day because of the bands that hook to your feet & PT gloves.

Billy starts out showing you a few reps, then you join in at half pace, then you up it to a "cardio pace." Exercises include: jab cross, jump rope, upper cuts, hooks, speed bags, shadow boxing, jogging, and punch combos. You finish with punch & tri extensions, pushups, and bicycle crunches w/ punches.

I rate this an intermediate workout. There is downtime between the moves while Billy is demo'ing, but you can jog in place. This one contains no complicated choreo or tricky combos, easy to catch onto. I do wish it moved along a bit quicker but good for a less energetic day. I like Billy in this one, not over the top and his counting & cuing are on. I received this to review.

Mario Cupcakes: Made this order of "Mario Cupcakes"  for a co-workers son's bday. They were fun to make. Chocolate cupcakes with buttercream. Decorations all fondant :)

Today's Tip: Celery Root for Health
Celeriac (also known as celery root), is a knobby-shaped bulb that often has smaller, spider-like root protrusions. It’s an excellent source of vitamin K and a good source of dietary fiber though, according to Jackie Newgent, culinary nutritionist and author of Big Green Cookbook. “Vitamin K promotes strong bones and may protect against osteoporosis,” the chef instructor adds. “The fiber has cancer-protective qualities—among other benefits. Plus, [celery root] only has 30 calories for a 1/2 cup serving.” Read more on Self
